Welcome To Classic Rock Readers!

Classic Rock Magazine coverWelcome to Classic Rock Magazine readers!

The exciting news this month (well, for me anyway. I don’t know about you. It’s probably not that exciting for you…) is that I was contacted by Classic Rock Magazine who wanted to run a piece I wrote recently – about sexism in rock.

After some deep and heavy negotiations *, I have agreed to allow them to reprint it on their website and so I just wanted to say two things:

1. If you are a first time reader here and have come across from Classic Rock to have a look around – welcome to Every Record Tells A Story. This is just my little blog that talks about all kinds of music but which does tend to dwell on the music I grew up with – especially the heavy rock of the late eighties. I hope you like what you see.

If you do, then you can keep in touch using various methods:

My facebook page is at www.facebook.com/everyrecordtellsastory

Twitter: @EveryRecord

There is also an Every Record Gallery page on Pinterest if you like that sort of thing…which is probably unlikely.

….and instagram and Tumblr too. Got to love that Social Media thing.

2. If you are an Every Record Tells A Story reader, but not a Classic Rock reader – then what have you been doing all this time? The new issue celebrates AC/DC’s 40th anniversary and is available at all good newsagents – and some bad ones too.

Here’s some old articles you might like if you want a short cut to the good stuff:

The Day I Appeared in an AC/DC Video

A Look At The Sensitive And Haunting Poetry of Whitesnake

The Top Ten Best Song Titles Ever – Blue Oyster Cult Special

Movember – Rock’s Greatest Moustaches

There’s plenty more under the “Hard Rock” and “Heavy Metal” categories at the top of the page.

In the meantime – thanks for dropping by!

* They weren’t.

That’s great news. I’m a loyal Classic Rock reader and this is something to be very proud of. You do great work. Hopefully you attract a lot of new readers this way.

Yes, I saw that as I was scanning their site, so I came here to let you know that they ripped you off! Congrats, man, that’s quite fantastic! Will they be publishing it in an upcoming print edition?

I used to subscribe to Mojo, but stopped when my foreign-magazine distributor stopped carrying it. (Ironically, it is now owned by Bauer Media, which is a German company.) I suppose I could subscribe directly, but I’m wondering if I should. It has broader coverage than Classic Rock, of course, but also good writing and was generally well put together.

I subscribed to the excellent German magazine eclipsed, which is hard/art/progressive/classic etc, so more specialized than Mojo but less so than Classic Rock. I am interested in classic rock, of course, but also in new music in a similar, or at least a good, vein.

If I subscribe to one English-language rock magazine, which should it be?

I subscribe to Mojo for the reasons you describe – good writing and a focus on old and new of all genres.
